Snow in the Foothills...

I have to say I feel like we lost a whole week of December rather than just a day....have the power go out on us a week ago today and waking up to green flashes in the sky from the transformers erupting all over town was very exciting....then seeing the foot of snow at the inn was exciting....Not so exciting once we realized how cold it was getting without power.  Lucky for us, we were one of the first ones back on (24 hours later) and we could get on with things...only there was still a foot of snow everywhere and much of Placerville remained closed as they could not get out of their homes due to trees being down.  One of the days I went to work last week it was just 18 degrees out at 7:30 - not sure I want to know what at was a 2 a.m. but our pipes held up.  The Albert Shafsky House B&B did just fine.

Happy to say that with the recent rain, most of the snow in town has now melted and is but a photo memory.  But I am sure we will all be talking about the "Storm of 09" for some time to come--Placerville had not seen this much snow in twenty years....
