Facebook is not just for kids anymore

Oh the irony....I spoke at the California Association of Bed and Breakfast Inns (CABBI) about Facebook and social networking and how it was starting to be used by people older than college students and in today's Sacramento Bee there was a great article about the same thing.  Of course we have had an account for the Placerville bed and breakfast for some time now...and I will say it has been great fun to add various Shafsky family members as "friends" of the El Dorado County Bed and Breakfast that we love so much.

At The B&B Team we have seen similar articles about the age of Facebook participants. At a recent innkeeper's conference in January, we asked the audience of about 50 or 60 how many had a Facebook page, and over half the hands went up. We were amazed! And judging by the people who are finding me personally, I think the trend is really gaining momentum. We "older" folks may be slower to catch on to some of the technologies, but when they really work to connect people (as Facebook does), then it's only a matter of time before we're all on board!
